Product Overview

Quality products from Marway Power Solutions provide a solid foundation of reliable power distribution for any equipment set. For 30 years Marway has specialized in build-to-order and customized systems designed to save space and weight while meeting the unique needs of each application.

PDU family MPD 833 features Marway’s RCM communications interface in a 3U x 16.0” chassis. These units are designed to receive three phase 120/208 VAC power through a NEMA L21-30P connector. The family includes a range of output configurations.

EMI Protection

EMI protection is provided by a power line filter. Noise and harmonics in the facility power lines can cause problems for sensitive electronic equipment. A filter in the PDU helps prevent noise and harmonics from reaching downstream equipment.

Surge Protection

Spike and surge protection is provided by metal oxide varistors (MOVs). Facility power lines can sometimes transmit a sudden increase in voltage. Even though the voltage spike or surge may be very short in duration, it can damage equipment. The MOV in the PDU clamps the line voltage so it cannot exceed a specified value, thus protecting any connected equipment.

Current Protection

Overcurrent protection is provided by one or more circuit breakers. Equipment faults can cause excessive power to be pulled from facility power lines. This can damage the equipment and power cabling. The circuit breaker in the PDU protects downstream equipment by opening the power line if too much current is being consumed.

Monitoring

Marway’s RCM monitoring feature adds intelligent measurement capabilities to the PDU. This feature is used to remotely monitor a variety of parameters via Ethernet and serial interfaces. For a detailed description of capabilities and interface protocols, see the PDU Software page on Marway’s website.

EPO and Remote Control

The N.O./N.O. remote type label designates a Normally Open Enable/Normally Open Disable interface for the remote operation of the PDU.

The N.O./N.O. remote interface requires an external normally open signal to ENABLE the switched outputs in the PDU. The external ENABLE contacts must be closed to turn on the PDU outputs. The interface also supports an external normally open signal to DISABLE the switched outputs, which is equivalent to an EPO response. When the external DISABLE contacts are closed, the EPO is initiated. Note that if both signals are applied, DISABLE (EPO) always has priority.

Our Universal Control Panels, are popular systems for providing remote on/off/EPO control of one or more PDUs.

Switching

Remote switching allows the power receptacles to be enabled or disabled via an external control signal. This feature is useful for implementing external interlock circuits, or simply providing the convenience of remote control. The remote interface is controlled through one or more 3-pin remote connectors on the PDU.

Marway’s RCM feature adds intelligent control capabilities to the PDU. This feature is used to remotely switch the outlets on and off via Ethernet and serial interfaces. For a detailed description of capabilities and interface protocols, see the PDU Software page on Marway’s website.
